Digital cordless telephones (or DECT telephones) are the logical choice for the discriminating user. Prices have fallen and specifications have improved to include many features such as CLI, voice prompted dialling, base station dialling, high capacity name and number directories, multi-base station working and interchangeable fascias. Whilst becoming more compact, digital cordless phones offer increasing levels of performance including, in many cases, the ability to work with headsets.

• Enhanced range. DECT cordless phones have a reception range of up to 50m indoors and up to 300m outdoors. The signal can be boosted by adding a repeater. This will amplify the signal over a wider area.
• Headsets may be registered with multiple bases so that calls can be made using the nearest base station to achieve optimum reception.
• Increased security with digital encryption.
• Most digital cordless phones support additional handsets. Once the base station is plugged into the telephone line, additional handsets can be positioned anywhere around the house or office without the need for additional wiring.
• Calls can be transferred between handsets.
